How Princess Diana’s style still has an impact in 2023 according to 6 fashion experts

By avi maxwel / in , , , , , /

The mark that Princess Diana left in the fashion world is boundless. Arguably, she’s the most influence style muse in fashion history, and still, 25 years after her death, her distinguishable sartorial agenda is still being used as inspiration for the whole industry.

The most recent example? This week, when designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, showcased his Fall/Winter 2024 show at the Château de Versailles and explained the whole collection was inspired by Lady Di, “Jacquemus’ latest collection was all based on references from her most iconic style moments, such as the sapphire and pearl triple strand necklace that she wore with her revenge dress,” explains Hello! Fashion’s digital editor Natalie Salmon.

Alongside the 80s silhouettes, like the puffed sleeves that the designer said, “will become a signature of Jacquemus,” Kendall Jenner walked the runway in a look that combined two of Diana’s most iconic fashion moments.

How Global Warming Is Changing Fashion and Beauty

By avi maxwel / in , , , , /

Earlier this summer, when wildfires in Canada blanketed much of the US East Coast in hazy orange skies, it wasn’t just the air pollution that skyrocketed. Brands that had products catering to anti-pollution protection saw their sales soar too.

For instance, sales of skincare brand Pour Moi’s Smoke Alarm Drops, which uses a formula derived from moss cells, pine and hemp seed to calm skin stress created by smoke, tripled. Increasingly frequent and intense wildfire seasons have also meant more people visiting their dermatologist’s office, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.

The trend is only likely to get more pronounced. This year is on track to be the hottest on record and with higher temperatures comes worse pollution. Natural disasters like wildfires aside, warm air traps pollution particles closer to the ground and heavy usage of air conditioning worsens emissions.

Beauty firms from global cosmetics giants like L’Oréal to independent brands like Barbara Sturm, are increasingly catering to this reality. The global anti-pollution ingredients market is already worth $870 million and expected to reach $1.4 billion by the end of 2031, according to research firm Future Market Insights. Although the definition of what constitutes an anti-pollution ingredient is somewhat

Fashion Trends And Brands To Know From Spring 2024

By avi maxwel / in , , , /

As may have been expected, fashion forecasts for Spring 2024 showcased an abundance of florals. Bloom-shaped appliqués were plentiful at Balmain, Loewe and Margiela. There were botanical prints of all varieties: Some were eye popping and vibrant, while others more were dramatic and hyperrealist. Other trends that re-emerged this season included sleek, tailored suits in neutral tones, tiers of sheer, color-blocking and a playful spin on country club dressing.

Of all the style propositions presented on the runway for 2024, however, there were two trends that truly felt, well, groundbreaking.

Return To Bohemia

Chloe’s newly-resurrected bohemian gal for Fall 2024 stirred excitement, especially among those of us who spent a large part of our 20s in chunky heels, oversized vintage eyewear, flared jeans, and billowy tops. In the early 2000’s the boho-chic ideal was embodied through the looks served by the Olsen

Regarding fashion and specifically fashion week, the industry tries to uphold a delicate balance between longevity and trends. Designers work to craft collections that feel cohesive to their previous work while still breaking some form of a barrier, pushing their designs forward and inspiring a new season of style. As new designer collections debut around the world during fashion month, we begin to see clear fashion trends for 2023 emerge.

Amongst TikTok’s “hot takes” on fashion week and many designer’s feeble attempts to include realistic body types on the runway, we are left with a jumble of opinions, critiques and questions. But when it comes to trends, there is one question that reigns supreme—would you wear it?

As consumers, we subsequently work through the same tug-and-pull of trends that designers do but on the receiving end. Do we aim to be aspirational or affordable? Do we shop for the moment? Exhilarating, though potentially fleeting. Or, do we shop for the future? Curated for forever, at the risk of playing it a bit safe. Spoiler alert: there’s no correct answer.

To be hyper-aware of trends and the evolving landscape of your own closet is to be
