Ah, Spring! The sun is setting a little later every evening, the birds are evidently hosting a world conference outside my window every morning, and the temperatures are finally starting to warm up where I live. The changing seasons are a fantastic time to look through your wardrobe, clean out the pieces you haven’t worn in a year, and identify the gaps you need to fill.

Just this morning, I thought about—wait for it—shorts. At the tail end of last summer, I found myself reaching for pants and jeans more often than my beloved 5-inch inseam shorts. Blame it on changing trends, an aging body, or just being bored with the options out there, but it seems that overnight, I couldn’t fathom wearing the same styles and silhouettes I’d been donning for years. Keep scrolling to shop some of my current favorite pairs.

My goal for this season? To try and find the styles that’ll take me into the summer (and hopefully the next few summers) and keep me looking fresh—a rebrand

Bring No Clothes: Bloomsbury and the Philosophy of Fashion by Charlie Porter review – style revolution | Art and design books

By avi maxwel / in , , , , , , , , , , , , /

When Virginia Woolf invited TS Eliot down for a country weekend in 1920 she concluded with “Please bring no clothes”. This was not a suggestion that “Tom” should arrive in East Sussex naked. Such a possibility was unlikely anyway since at this point the poet was still working as a buttoned-up clerk at Lloyds Bank. Eliot was famously wedded to his three-piece suit to the point where, Woolf joked, he would have worn a four-piece one if such a thing existed. What she meant by “bring no clothes” was that at Monk’s House they did not dress for dinner, change for church (there was no church), or worry about getting their best clothes grubby in the garden. This was Bloomsbury, albeit a rural version, and the clothing conventions to which the rest of upper-middle-class society had returned after the first world war had no place there.

Fashion journalist Charlie Porter is spot-on with his suggestion that the way the circle thought about clothes was part of a wider revolt against the late-Victorian society in which its members had been raised (Woolf was born in 1882, Eliot six years later). Choosing not to wear black tie for dinner or gloves “in

Princess Diana’s best fashion and style moments throughout the years

By avi maxwel / in , , , , , /

There’s no denying the impact Princess Diana had on not only Britain but the world. Known for her limitless kindness and grace, she will forever be remembered for being the people’s princess. And her style is no exception to her unwavering legacy.

At times controversial, her wardrobe perfectly encapsulated who she was as a princess: independent, compassionate, and brave. From timeless, casual looks at polo games to jaw-dropping embellished gowns, Princess Diana showcased the best of fashion no matter the occasion. Whether she was wearing ensembles from the best British clothing brands, high-end designers, or simply keeping it casual in athleisure, she always dressed to impress.

Here we’ve put together a collection of our favourite iconic Diana outfits through the years.

When we think of Princess Diana’s fashion statements, this dress is probably the first one that springs to most people’s minds. Arriving at the Serpentine Gallery in 1994, the off-the-shoulder mini dress caused quite a stir, being perhaps the most provocative fashion statement from a British royal at the time. The look is now more commonly referred to as the ‘revenge dress’ as its

Zendaya’s 32 Most Iconic Style Moments (So Far)

By avi maxwel / in , , , /

Zendaya: undisputed fashion queen. The singer, actor, and dancer known mononymously (which means she’s already iconic) has brought out so, so many brilliant styles that it’s honestly hard to pick which ones are the best. The 2021 CFDA Fashion Icon Award recipient shuts the red carpet down whenever she’s on it—and, of course, she’s got great business and business-casual style too. She’s a bit of a fashion chameleon: Who else could pull off old Hollywood glam, cutouts galore (for the Oscars!!), and literal Joan of Arc cosplay?

Zendaya’s long-time stylist and image architect Law Roach, who referred to himself as her “creative director” in 2023, originally helped get the young starlet on the map when she was just 13 and still a Disney star. He later admitted that he helped get couture gowns for the up-and-comer by requesting gowns that had already been worn by another celebrity, causing her to become a staple of the “who wore it better?” style stories (and often winning, because, it’s her). Once she was a known entity, though, everyone wanted to dress her. And she’s been giving us red carpet magic every since.

Ahead, 32 iconic Zendaya outfits, from the prim and
