Taylor Swift’s Fashion & Street Style Isn’t Bad Taste. It’s Strategy.

By avi maxwel / in , , , , , , , , /

In December, Taylor Swift — Time’s Person of the Year — glittered in front of the camera in a black bodysuit, a floor-skimming chenille dress, and a studded bustier gown.

At first blush, you wouldn’t know that the chenille dress was one of Alaïa’s most beloved recent offerings or that the bustier gown was from the NYC-based brand Area, infamous for their campaigns featuring fake eyes and bejeweled death masks. Everything edgy about these original pieces had been sanded, smoothed, and rendered inoffensive — just how Swift likes it.

It is easy to forget that, despite selling a whopping 162 million records, Swift is a normal person with normal taste. It is also easy to forget that those record sales allow her an estimated $1.1 billion fortune, enough to wear any designer piece she wants or hire any stylist across the industry.

So why does she insist on mismatched outfits?

A swipe at several Taylor Swift style blogs will reveal trail sneakers with muddy fleeces, Ren Faire-approved dresses with Jean Paul Gaultier boots, and high-heeled Reformation loafers worn oddly with Chiefs sweatshirts. But these outfits aren’t the result of

There’s never been a better time for golf fashion and women’s golf clothes than right now. From streetwear-esque to country club-chic, there’s an incredibly diverse array of options to choose from when it comes to women’s golf apparel.

Here, we highlight some of the best women’s golf clothes from capsule collections to performance polos, so you can look great on the course and beyond.

How to pick the right women’s golf clothes for you

Price is always one of the primary considerations when buying golf clothes. Striking the right balance of cost versus quality is key when determining whether a piece is worth the price.

A key question to ask yourself about potential women’s golf apparel are the conditions you regularly play in. For those playing in warmer or muggy climates, finding pieces with sweat-wicking, UV-blocking, and odor-resistant fabrics is key. We love the Lululemon polos, G/FORE quarter-zips, and the Adidas Go-To Golf Dress, as these options blend style and performance — without

How ‘rebellious’ royal Zara ditched fun fashion for a chic style makeover that surprised us all (though it’s not clear what her very practical mum, Princess

By avi maxwel / in , , , , , , , , , , , , , /

Zara Tindall is fast becoming one of the best dressed members of of the Royal Family, showing off an array of outfits from tailored dresses to fitted coats in trending hot pink hues.

Where she used to dazzle us with eclectic mini frocks and fun fascinators over the years, she has now refined her style aesthetic towards chic and figure-flattering silhouettes.

Often known as the rebellious royal in the past, Zara still loves vibrant hues. But these days she loves clean lines, using accessories to add personality.

Neither her husband, Mike, nor her mother, the Princess Royal, has ever paid much attention to the whims of fashion but Zara is growing in confidence.

Not that she’s trying to be a trendsetter. Rather, it seems she wants to concentrate on dressing beautifully.

Australian-born fashion stylist Annie Miall has been credited with helping Zara – notably in the choice of sharply cut, figure-skimming pieces  by designers such as Rebecca Vallance and Laura Green, who spent ten years at Princess Diana’s favourite brand, Catherine Walker.

Zara has definitely found her fashion formula.

How Ron Howard’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ movie became a fashion favorite

By avi maxwel / in , , , , , , , /

 —

For many, Christmas is a time typically associated with “ugly” reindeer sweaters or snowman neckties. And that’s particularly the case on the big screen: From Nora Krank’s garish, mistletoe-embroidered vest in “Christmas with the Kranks” to Mark Darcy’s Rudolph turtleneck in “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” there’s a consensus that, between all the paper crowns, Santa hats and clashing colors, bad fashion thrives during the festive season.

But it doesn’t have to be that way, and one particular holiday classic is proof: Costume designer Rita Ryack’s Oscar-nominated work on the 2000 live-action adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” reminded viewers that bundling up needn’t be boring, and that Christmas can — and should — be chic. The ultra-glamorous vision of Yuletide dressing was a far cry from what was on offer elsewhere; a maximalist take on the humble Seussian origin story, which follows the redemption arc of the irascible green anti-hero (Jim Carrey) who snatched Christmas away from the Whos of Whoville.

The fashion-forward film saw then-child star Taylor Momsen as little Cindy Lou Who, in an impressive wardrobe filled with puff-sleeved, peter-pan collared dresses, coats and pajamas.

Another memorable look was the plaid corset frock paired
