7 Fall 2023 Fashion Trends to Shop Now

By avi maxwel / in , , , /

The dog days of summer are here, and while that means lapping up our time in the sun (with good hats and sun protection obvs), lazy days wearing linen sets and doubling up on the crochet, it also means we are headed to the most exciting time of year for getting dressed: fall. Autumn’s crisp temperatures give way to ample opportunities for accessorizing (hello boots and scarves), rich colors and textures, and oh the difference a good jacket or coat could make for an already amazing outfit.

With that comes a chance to play with the trends we saw head down the runway in February. And the 2023 fall fashion trends are nothing to scoff at. Here, 7 of our favorite trends straight from the runways to shop now for Fall 2023.

Prep Is Back

In the age of stealth wealth and the low key rich bitch dressing essentials, it is only natural that prep—and its adjacent classic stylings—should come roaring back into fashion. Some may argue they never left. Sportswear and the preppy athletic activities that come with them are exceedingly popular, as the tailored tweeds, classic cable knit sweaters, and timeless pieces like loafers.

These 5 fashion trends will define 2024, according to an expert

By avi maxwel / in , , , /

New year, new looks.

While 2024 hasn’t arrived just yet, it’s never too early to get a head start on embracing fresh trends. And according to celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger — whose extensive client list includes Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep and Amal Clooney — there are plenty of standout styles in store for the year ahead, plus one she’s ready to bid goodbye.

“I think ’90s and Y2K looks aren’t totally exiting the chat, but we’re starting to see a departure from that,” Erlanger tells Page Six Style. “And that is a trend that I would love to leave behind.”

And unlike the low-rise jeans and dad sneakers of the early aughts (and 2020s), Erlanger’s picks for 2024 are sure to stand the test of time.

“I like to follow more classic, timeless styles,” says the longtime vintage lover, who recently partnered with luxury resale platform Vestiaire Collective to sell treasures from her own collection.

Below, discover (and shop) the five trends Erlanger predicts will define the year ahead.

MILAN FASHION WEEK STREET STYLE FROM FEBRUARY 2024

1. SPLASHES OF BURGUNDY

Style Notes: Whilst in New York it was still all about bursts of vivid red, showgoers in Milan preferred to style the paintbox hue’s cooler older sister, centring their looks around deep tones of burgundy. Take this as proof that the luxurious shade is set to take over very soon.

Piles of pleats, big bags, longer everything: The strong style trends from Men’s Fashion Week Fall 2024 shows

Florence, Milan and Paris were unseasonably cold over the last two weeks as designers staged their Fall 2024 menswear collections during Pitti Uomo, Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. Fitting, considering the clothes we were shown for next fall and winter prominently featured big coats and touched on enjoying the great outdoors. Some designers even celebrated the cold, like Pharrell, who closed out the Louis Vuitton show with a dusting of snow.

The runways were a showcase of looks that felt, on the whole, incredibly wearable. That was particularly evident in Milan, where Gucci launched a new menswear era for itself under the stewardship of Sabato De Sarno. If his predecessor, Alessandro Michele, was an unparalleled world-builder who pushed the boundaries of campy fashion, De Sarno seems set on making clothes that he — and a broader range of clients — want to wear.

There was a similar feeling in Paris, where many of the big houses offered up collections that were less editorialized than recent years, with more approachable silhouettes. Oversized pants, for example, were replaced by the familiar straight-leg, slim-cut trouser.

Beyond that, though, these are the trends that
